What size ram pump do I need for 5 gallon pails vs 55 gallon drums?
Match the ram and follower plate to the container: Graco S20 or D60 and Binks SR20, DR20 or DR30 rams take 5 gallon (20 L) pails, Graco D60 and Binks DR60 also take 15-16 gallon (60 L) containers, and Graco D200/D200s or Binks DR205/DRX205 rams take 55 gallon (200-205 L) drums.

What is the difference between a chop-check (priming piston) and a ball-check pump on a ram?
Chop-check pumps (Binks MX chop check, Graco Check-Mate priming piston) force heavy, high-viscosity material such as sealants and mastics into the lower. Ball-check pumps (Binks MX ball check, Graco Dura-Flo) suit medium-viscosity materials and give a smoother flow.

How much fluid pressure does a ram pump produce?
Fluid pressure is the pump ratio times the air pressure. A 68:1 pump fed with 100 psi air produces about 6,800 psi; a 23:1 pump about 2,300 psi. Pick the ratio from the pressure your dispense valve, hose length and material viscosity need.

Should I choose a stainless steel or carbon steel pump?
Carbon steel (nitrided) pumps cost less and suit most non-corrosive sealants and lubricants. Stainless steel or ceramic-coated rods resist corrosive, water-based and abrasive materials and last longer on filled compounds.

EPDM, polyurethane, nitrile or PTFE follower plate wipers: which one?
