Why electrochemical weld cleaning?
Weld cleaning machines pass current through an electrolyte-soaked pad on a wand to dissolve heat tint and restore the chromium oxide layer that makes stainless corrosion resistant. It replaces pickling paste and grinding, with no hydrofluoric acid and no scratching of the finish. The same machines can mark and etch logos and serial numbers with a stencil.
FAQ
Does electrochemical weld cleaning passivate stainless steel?
Yes. Removing the heat tint and free iron lets the chromium oxide layer reform, which restores corrosion resistance. A passivation tester can confirm the surface after cleaning.
Which electrolyte should I use?
Use the electrolyte specified for your machine and the job: standard electrolytes for general cleaning, heavy-duty for thick heat tint and polishing or neutral solutions for a final bright finish. After cleaning, rinse or neutralize the surface.
What size weld cleaning machine do I need?
Higher-amperage machines clean faster and handle larger welds and longer runs; compact units suit light fabrication and site work. Tell us your typical weld length and material thickness and we will size it.
