The Pirate Brand 999-8040-030PB-CAB is a 3.5 cu ft (100 liter) Soda Storm pneumatic pressure hold soda blaster from the Cabinet Series. It is built for soda blasting at low regulated pressures and is supplied with an APV II metering valve, a foot pedal, and a 25' twinline hose assembly. Note that it is not for use in all cabinet applications and requires a large dust collector, so consult us before purchase.

How It Works

This is a pneumatic, pressure hold system. Abrasive is loaded through the opening in the top of the pot and settles to the bottom of the vessel, where it exits through the multi-port fixed orifice sleeve in the metering valve. With the blow-down valve closed and the inlet valve opened, compressed air flows through the moisture separator/filter and pressure regulator into the vessel, and the internal pop-up seals so the vessel can pressurize. The regulator is used to blast below the minimum required inlet pressure of 90 PSI. When the foot pedal is pressed, the auto air valve and metering valve open, and air and abrasive mix and travel to the blast hose and nozzle.

When the control is released, the vessel stays filled with compressed air (pressure hold). That air is vented by manually closing the inlet valve and opening the blow-down valve. With the multi-port sleeve, you can use differential pressure to help move abrasive through the small orifices. Partially close the differential pressure gate valve until the differential pressure gauge reads slightly lower than the vessel pressure gauge. The vibrator can also be used to aid abrasive flow.

Key Features

  • Pressure hold system reduces abrasive consumption and moisture problems, with smoother starts and stops
  • Operates throughout the regulator range, down to 5 PSI
  • APV II premium metering valve with quadruple plunger seal arrangement, designed to address air and abrasive carry-over and plunger/seal jamming in regulated low-pressure blasting
  • Stainless steel multi-ported sleeve allows up to 4 fixed orifices to set the abrasive flow rate (lb/min)
  • Differential pressure gate valve with liquid-filled gauge for abrasive flow control
  • Abrasive flow assist vibrator with controls
  • Moisture separator with element filters contaminants down to 50 micron
  • 1" galvanized piping for corrosion resistance and heavy duty full port ball valves
  • Extended-life Schedule 80 heavy duty nipple; bolt clamps on the pusher line make field repairs easier
  • 1" cleanout ball valve assembly for pumping out and switching abrasives; sanitary cleanout coupling for access to bridging at the metering port
  • Blow-down muffler reduces noise
  • Lid keeps rain water and contaminants out; fine mesh screen keeps contaminants such as paper from abrasive bags out of the vessel; loading skid/valve guard protects valves and gauges in transport
