The Pirate Brand 999-8040-010PB-CAB is a 1.5 cu ft (43 liter) Soda Storm cabinet-series soda blasting machine with a 150 PSI pneumatic pressure hold system and foot pedal control. It is built for soda blasting with a blast cabinet, where you need low-pressure control, consistent abrasive metering, and fast starts and stops. It is not suited to every cabinet application and requires a large dust collector, so please call us to confirm fit before you order.
How It Works
Abrasive is added through the opening in the top of the pot, where the pop-up and its seat are located. It flows down around the pop-up to the bottom of the vessel and exits through the multi-port fixed orifice sleeve in the APV II metering valve when blasting starts. With the blow-down valve closed and the inlet valve open, compressed air flows through the moisture separator/filter and pressure regulator into the vessel, sealing the pop-up and pressurizing the pot. Use the pressure regulator to blast below the minimum 90 PSI inlet pressure. When the foot pedal is pressed, the auto air valve and metering valve open, and air and abrasive mix and travel through the blast hose to the nozzle.
This is a pressure hold system: when the pedal is released, the vessel stays filled with compressed air. To release it, close the inlet valve and open the blow-down valve by hand. When using the multi-port sleeve, you can use differential pressure to help abrasive flow. Partially close the differential pressure gate valve until the differential pressure gauge reads slightly lower than the vessel pressure gauge. The abrasive flow assist vibrator can also be used.
