The Pirate Brand Soda Storm 999-8040-110PB is a portable 1.5 cu ft (43 liter) pneumatic soda blasting machine with a 150 PSI pressure hold system. It is built for operators who need low-pressure, controllable blasting with soda media, and it comes with an APV II metering valve, 1" piping with a moisture separator, and a 55' twinline control hose with control handle #2. The package includes 100 lbs of Natrium Soda Blast 260 media.
How It Works
Abrasive is loaded through the opening in the top of the pot, where the pop-up and its seat are located. It settles to the bottom of the vessel and exits through the multi-port fixed orifice sleeve in the metering valve. Before pressurizing, the blow-down valve must be closed. When you connect your compressed air source and open the inlet valve, air passes through the moisture separator/filter and pressure regulator into the vessel, and the pop-up seals so the vessel pressurizes. To blast below the minimum required inlet pressure of 90 PSI, use the pressure regulator.
When the pneumatic control handle is activated, the auto air valve and metering valve open, air and abrasive mix, and the mixture leaves through the blast hose and nozzle. This is a pressure hold system: when the handle is released, the vessel stays filled with compressed air. To depressurize, close the inlet valve manually and open the blow-down valve.
The multi-port sleeve works with differential pressure to help abrasive flow. Partially closing the differential pressure gate valve until the differential gauge reads slightly lower than the vessel gauge pushes abrasive through the small orifices. The vibrator can also be used to aid flow.

Do not exceed 125 PSI when using blast hose with nylon nozzle holders or couplings. Do not supply compressed air above 150 PSI. This machine is not for use in all cabinet applications and requires a large dust collector; consult us before purchase.
