The Pirate Brand 888-0024-13812PB is a 120 cu ft (3,398 liter, 6 ton) SPH PINCH bulk abrasive blast machine with 12 VDC electric controls. It is built for high-production blasting jobs where a large abrasive supply is needed, and it is a pressure hold system that uses pinch valves. It is listed to fit Schmidt Manufacturing (Axxiom) abrasive blasting equipment. Bulk machines do not include mounts, so you choose a trailer, skid or leg extension mount separately.
How It Works
This is a pressure hold system. Abrasive is loaded through the closure assembly at the top of the vessel and flows to the bottom, where it exits through the metering valve when blasting starts. When the air compressor is connected and turned on, the Emergency Air Tank pressurizes and the pinch valves close. With the blow-down valve and inlet valve closed and the top closure properly sealed, opening the inlet valve lets compressed air pass through the moisture separator and fill the vessel. When the operator activates the control handle, the pinch valve opens and the air and abrasive mixture flows through the blast hose to the nozzle.
When the control handle is released, blasting stops but the vessel stays pressurized. To depressurize, manually close the inlet valve and manually open the blow-down valve. The Emergency Air Tank stores a reserve of compressed air to close the pinch valves if the compressor fails. Controls on this model are 12 VDC electric with dead-man control handles.
