The Pirate Brand 888-0023-13812PB is a 120 cu ft (3,398 liter, 6 ton) bulk abrasive blast machine with SPH PINCH pressure-hold controls and 12 VDC electric remote controls. It is built for high-production blasting jobs where a large abrasive supply is needed and for operators who want a pinch valve system with an emergency air reserve. The part is made by Forecast Sales and fits Schmidt Manufacturing (Axxiom) abrasive blasting equipment.
How It Works
This is a pressure hold system with pinch valves. Abrasive is loaded through the closure assembly at the top of the vessel and flows to the bottom, where it exits through the metering valve when blasting starts. When the air supply is connected and turned on, the Emergency Air Tank fills and the pinch valves close. The tank stores a reserve of compressed air so the pinch valves can still close if the compressor fails. Opening the inlet valve lets compressed air pass through the moisture separator and into the vessel. When the operator activates the control handle, the pinch valve opens and the air and abrasive mixture flows through the blast hose to the nozzle.
Releasing the control handle stops the flow, but the vessel stays pressurized. To depressurize it, manually close the inlet valve and manually open the blow-down valve.
