Choosing a nozzle size and air cap
The LS-400 comes in four nozzle sizes, and each size has its own gun and nozzle/needle set number:
- 1.2: gun 5930, nozzle + needle set 93512760
- 1.3: gun 5935, nozzle + needle set 93512780
- 1.4: gun 5940, nozzle + needle set 93513120
- 1.5: gun 5945, nozzle + needle set 93513140
Those gun numbers are for the gun alone. Iwata also lists each size with a PCG600P2 (600 ml), PCG7D2 (700 ml) or PCG10D2 (1000 ml) cup. All four sizes use the same LS-400-05 air cap set, part 93512100. For Xirallic special effects, Iwata lists separate ET nozzles in 1.0 (93003150), 1.1 (93003190) and 1.2 (93512150), with ET fluid needle 93829600.
Finding the right replacement part
Open the exploded diagram in Iwata's LS-400 spec sheet and find the part you need by its Ref. number. For example, Ref. 1 is the air cap set, Ref. 3 the cartridge packing, Ref. 8 the air valve and Ref. 16 the trigger. Then match the Iwata code beside that Ref. to the part number on the product listing. Iwata also lists accessories, including air cap gaskets (black 93505341, white 93505330), the test cap gauge set 2978 and repair service kit 5652. Iwata says to use only original spare parts when servicing this gun.

FAQ
What nozzle sizes are available for the Iwata LS-400?
Iwata lists the LS-400 Supernova Entech in 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 nozzle sizes. Each size has its own nozzle + needle set (93512760, 93512780, 93513120 and 93513140).
What air pressure does the LS-400 need?
Iwata says to set the regulator for 1.0 to 1.8 bar (14 to 26 PSI) at the gun inlet with the trigger pulled and the pattern adjust fully open. That gives about 0.7 bar (10 PSI) inside the air cap. With a 12 m (39.4 ft) air hose, Iwata calls for an inner diameter of at least 8 mm (0.315 in).
What is in the LS-400 repair service kit?
Iwata's kit 5652 includes Ref. 3 (cartridge packing), 7 (air valve seat set), 9 (air valve spring), 11 (fluid needle spring), 17 (trigger stud) and 18 (E stopper).
Are there any solvents I should avoid with the LS-400?
Yes. Iwata warns against halogenated hydrocarbon solvents such as dichloromethane and trichloroethylene, which can crack or dissolve the aluminum gun body. Iwata also says not to soak the air cap set in solvent for extended periods, because it can cause a defective pattern.
