The Pirate Brand 121-0510-D-EDC is a portable 0.5 cu ft (14 liter) abrasive blast pot with a pressure release system and 12VDC electric controls. It is built for contractors and shops that want a compact, 150 PSI machine and a ready-to-use setup, and it comes with the Gold Blasting Package: blast hose, nozzle, blast suit, gloves, respirator, airline filter, breathing air hose and air hoses.
How It Works
This is a pressure release (CPR) blaster. Abrasive is poured in through the opening at the top, where the pop-up and its seat are located, and it settles to the bottom of the vessel above the metering valve. With the air supply connected and the inlet shut-off valve open, air waits at the inlet valve. When you squeeze the electric control handle, the inlet valve opens and air flows into the vessel. The pop-up seals against its seat and the diaphragm outlet valve closes, so the vessel holds pressure. Air also flows past the choke valve and through the pusher line to the tee under the metering valve, where it mixes with abrasive and travels out the blast hose and nozzle.
When you release the handle, the inlet valve closes and the diaphragm valve opens. The air in the vessel is exhausted through the diaphragm valve, and blasting stops once the pressure is released. Some pulsing or erratic abrasive spray for a short time while pressure builds is normal. The AMV Jr metering valve is used to adjust abrasive flow.
Electric controls use a 12VDC remote control handle. Per the manufacturer, they are recommended for blast hose lengths over 100 feet, start and stop faster, and are less prone to freezing in cold climates.

Air & Abrasive Requirements
The manufacturer's compressor guidance for its C-Series Jr blasters at 100 PSI is shown below. These figures are for the blaster alone and increase as nozzles wear. A standard high pressure respirator, like the one in this package, requires an additional 15 CFM at 100 PSI.

The #4 nozzle in this package falls in the 80 CFM row (95 CFM total with the respirator). Replace a nozzle when its bore has worn 1/16" wider than its original diameter.
