ETS EC Random Orbital Sanders

The brushless ETS EC 150/3 is the finishing sander most shops reach for; the ETS EC 150/5 has a bigger orbit for faster work. For a lighter 5 in. option see the ETS 125 REQ.

ROTEX Multi-Mode Sanders

ETS EC 150/3 or 150/5: which Festool sander is better?
The 3 mm orbit leaves the finest scratch pattern and is the choice for final sanding and between coats. The 5 mm orbit removes material faster with only a slightly coarser finish. Shops that own one sander usually choose the 150/3; shops that own two pair a 150/5 for early grits with a 150/3 for finish.

When should I choose a ROTEX instead of a random orbital sander?
Choose a ROTEX when you need to remove material: flattening glue-ups, stripping old finish, or sanding rough lumber. Its gear-driven rotary mode is far more aggressive than random orbit, and it can also run a polishing pad.

Do I need a dust extractor with a Festool sander?
You can sand without one, but a CT extractor pulls dust through the pad holes, which keeps the abrasive from clogging, extends disc life and gives a better finish. It also removes the fine dust that would otherwise land on the work.

What is the difference between the RTS 400 and the DTS 400?
Both are small orbital finish sanders. The RTS 400 has a rectangular pad for flat edges and frames; the DTS 400 has a triangular delta pad that reaches into corners and tight inside angles.

Which sanding discs fit Festool sanders?
