Manual and smaller hand-crank benders require no power. Powered models vary—many compact shop benders run on single-phase 110V or 220V. Larger industrial machines demand three-phase 440V. Check your facility's available power before purchase; three-phase installation can be costly if unavailable.

Bend radius depends on tube diameter, wall thickness, material, and the bender's roller geometry. Thinner-wall tubing achieves tighter radii; thick-wall material requires larger radii to prevent kinking or material failure. Consult the machine's spec sheet for minimum bend radius tables by material and wall thickness.

Regularly clean and lubricate the rollers and frame pivots, inspect rollers for wear or flat spots, check that the frame remains square, and keep hydraulic fluid topped and clean if powered. Worn rollers cause inconsistent bends; preventive maintenance extends accuracy and machine life significantly.
