This water-based, sprayable masking liquid protects surfaces against automotive paint and primer overspray while protecting wet paint from dirt and dust. Overspray Masking Liquid-Dry be applied with conventional spray equipment. Overspray Masking Liquid-Dry is designed to prevent gentle paint overspray mist from getting on the vehicle. It is not designed to take a direct hit of paint.
3M™ Overspray Masking Liquid-Dry (OML-D) is a water-based sprayable masking liquid designed to dry to a non-tacky film. The dried film protects vehicle surfaces from automotive primer and paint overspray, while trapping dust and dirt under the film. Safe to use on all thoroughly cured painted surfaces. Overspray Masking Liquid-Dry is used for bulk masking vehicle surfaces during priming and/or painting processes. This product is designed to protect automotive surfaces from paint overspray only, and is not intended to protect against a direct hit of paint or primer.
Dried OML-D film protects vehicle surfaces from primer, sealer, base color, and clear coat overspray. OML-D can be effectively used with both solvent and water based paint systems. Dried OML-D traps dirt and dust under the film and away from the repair area.
3M™ Overspray Masking Liquid can be used in the body bay to protect vehicle surfaces from primer overspray. OML-D can be used in the paint bay to protect vehicle surfaces from primer, sealer, color and clearcoat overspray. One gallon of OML-D will cover approximately 400 square feet at 4.0 mils wet thickness (or about 4-5 average size vehicles per gallon). The proper wet application rate will yield a dry film thickness of approximately 0.4 mils.
